Green Gratitude Smoothie For A Bad Body Day

Living with a chronic illness or disease: As I write this my body is a little wonky. Why? I don't know for sure, but when my body gets wonky it tells me with allover body pain, stiff muscles, and tight joints. Then it hits my mind. Such is the life with inflammatory arthritis like Spondylitis.

We are body, mind, soul, and spirit. When one part of our WHOLEness is off, the rest is off. So, I notice the symptoms, burdens, and signals that my body is giving me and I run through my list of things that I can control in regards to my health and wellness.

Remember R.E.S.T.O.R.E.® my wellness program as you go over your own checklist when you are trying to uncover the reason for your Bad Body Day.

R= Rest

E= Eat

S= Sleep

T= Tribe

O= Open Up

R= Repair

E= Exercise

So I carefully went over each area of wholeness in my mind as I lay in bed this morning. I asked my self to truthfully assess how I have been living and what choices I have been making in these 7 areas over the last day, week, or month. Sometimes a Bad Day is the result of choices I made the day before. Other Bad Days are the accumulative result of little stressors or negative influences over the course of a whole month!

I ask myself: How I have managed stress? Have I been making time for meditation and self-care? What have I been eating? How has my sleep been? The people I am spending time with, are they toxic or uplifting? Have I been journaling, and praying? What steps have I been taking to help my body repair? Using my supplements? Following my healing dietary protocol? What about movement? Too much? Too little movement?

My Restore® program was born out of my own search to heal and to live my best life. I want to live my best life because my job, my purpose, is to help OTHERS live theirs. If I am sick and unable to help others, then my gifts, talents, and purpose dies with me.

After assessing my wellness choices I got out of bed and performed my daily wellness rituals. I participated in my wellness. My healthy morning drink, yoga, and mediation. Then since it is Sunday, we headed off to church as a family. I had skipped breakfast to let my body fast a little longer and finally, at 12:30 I prepared my Green Gratitude Smoothie.

Pain, muscle stiffness and fatigue are signs of inflammation in my body. I need to detox. I am swirling with the byproducts of inflammation. The best way to do a detox t is to drink water and get your greens in. Support your liver! Your Master Detox Chief! I already had about 30 oz of lemon water. Why lemon water? Because inflamed bodies are often acidic. The lemon creates a more alkaline environment and also provides anti-oxidants. An inflamed body is also higher in oxidative stress. Oxidative stress can turn into disease or progress the one you have. Greens are high in polyphenols and chlorophyll no wonder they are killers of oxidative stress!

Nearly every green smoothie I make is different! I use what is available in my home. My estimates are rough, but here goes: All organic

Today:

2 handfuls of Super Greens

Half a peeled lemon

3-inch piece of cubbed cucumber

1 thumbnail size of peeled fresh ginger

1/2 cup fresh cranberries

4 mini carrots

1 tsp turmeric, for inflammation

sprinkle of cinnamon

2 tsp prebiotic Yacon syrup for sweetness and gut health

Enough water, about 3/4 to the top of your mix.

Throw it all in your blender, I prefer my super powerful Ninja! If you like it sweeter, add a little raw honey. If you want it as a meal, then I suggest adding some fat such as MCT oil or a sweet fat like full-fat coconut milk or coconut mana (butter).

The message I would love to leave with you today is to Notice your body, mind, soul, and spirit and support each part of you.

If you truly want wellness, then please understand that you will only find it by supporting the whole person. There is no perfect diet, workout, meditation or drug that can make you well. Every day, every season brings new challenges and new signals from our body, mind, soul, and spirit.

I wish you well.
